Keep your loved one close in this handcrafted, one of a kind, Cremation Urn. I make these one at a time; keeping in mind that someday they may bring some peace and comfort to someone who has felt the loss of a beloved family member, friend or pet.
My unique method of creating these Urns produces a safe, secure container that can not be spilled. This jar/container is one piece and has no removable lid. Your loved-one's cremains are placed in a hole in the bottom of the Urn and a natural (in some cases, hand cut)cork is added to seal the vessel (cork included).
A Petite XX Small Wheel-Thrown Urn in the shape of an egg. Glazed with a white glaze. The specks of the "Speckled Brownstone" Clay shows through the glaze.
4.25" High, 3.38" wide and deep.
Will hold up to 14.4 cubic inches (8 fl ounces)
Ideal for a 16lb (or less) Person or Pet.
One of glazed pottery's benefits is that I never know how it will look when it comes out of the kiln. All glazed pottery pieces may have spots, drips or un-uniform areas that in a perfect world may be seen as imperfect. I always try to highlight these areas in my photos so my customers know ahead of time, just in case they are looking for a perfectly spotless and uniform piece.
When deciding the size Urn you need for your loved one, the general rule of thumb is:
1 pound of Body Weight = .9 cubic inchs of Urn Space (if in doubt, round up to 1 cubic inch per pound - or wait until you have the cremains to measure)
If you wait until the ashes are available, you (or a friend or crematory employee) can do the following:
Measure the depth and width of the temporary container provided by the crematory. Open the temporary container so that you can see the ashes. Measure from the bottom of the container to the top of the ashes. Multiply the height of the ashes by the depth of the container. Then multiply that number by the width of the container. Your result will be the number of cubic inches required for the ashes.
0 lb - 12.25 lb = Petite XXXS
12.25 lb – 24.5 lb = Petite XXS
24.5 lb – 36.5 lb = Petite XS
36.5 lb – 48.75 lb = Petite S
48.75 lb – 61 lb = Petite M
61 lb – 73.25 lb = Petite L
73.25 lb – 85.5 lb = Petite XL
85.5 lb – 97.75 lb = Petite XXL
97.75 lb – 110 lb = Petite XXXL
110 lb – 147.75 lb = Average S
147.75 lb – 184.5 lb = Average M
184.5 lb – 221 lb = Average L
