Pleated bodice dart are sew at the waistline, with flared skirt, wide sleeve are gathered at the cap and rolled at the cuff. Robe laps across the front with an inside tie and outside snap. original tie belt is missing. One patch pocket.

Measurements taken while flat then doubled, please allow for fit and ease ~

Waist: 28" (71 cm)
Hips: 44" (112 cm)
Length: 54" (137 cm)

Size: Medium
Fabric: rayon

US shipped priority mail.

Very good and wearable condition, fabric is still strong with lots of life left. Condition to note ~ a few small tears on front on skirt, can be mended with stitch witchery from the inside and would not be noticeable on the outside. Hem has only been turned up and stitched across, not folded over, so there is some fraying along inside of fabric hem edge. Folding hem up 1/2" and stitching would give hem a nice clean finish, if desired, not necessary for wearing garment. I'm a professional seamstress and would be happy to mend and hem free of charge if desired, just let me know. Price reflect current condition of garment.

Hollywood's Influence

Hollywood continued to influence women's fashions in the 1940s. Patterns that evoked the sophisticated and tailored look of Lauren Bacall's robe in "The Big Sleep" (1946) became available to the average American woman to copy. A design from 1947 features long, flared sleeves and an elegant, flared skirt tied at the waist with a matching sash. After the war, robes were created from luxurious fabrics, like satin, and hooded robes came into fashion, suggesting that postwar prosperity had replaced wartime thrift.
