Item details

Vintage from the 1970s

Vintage 1970s Japanese Wedding Kimono / Uchikake. This stunning garment would have been rented to brides who were unable to afford to purchase their wedding kimono. Incredible ivory silk with embroidery in both traditional thread and eye-catching metallic thread, and hand-painted metallic accents decorating the entire garment. Traditional crane and floral motifs. The bottom is heavily padded to protect it when worn, as it is long and meant to drag on the ground. No obi (belt sash) as this is traditionally worn open, over the wedding attire.

Good condition, but it would likely benefit from a quick dry-cleaning.
