First - this is a listing for a digital PDF file for a crochet pattern, NOT the item itself.
The pattern for this lovely Tunisian crochet fantasy coat is still available for FREE on my blog here
https://moralefiber.blog/2020/08/20/elf-coat-faq/
- the paid pattern version is available for those who want the portability and printability of a PDF - or if you just love me and want to give me yarn money ;)

This elegant fantasy-inspired sweater coat features an A-line silhouette with a curling, pointed geometric hem shape inspired by flower blossoms, delicate pointed bell sleeves, and of course a long and ample pointed elf hood. The variegated yarn creates dazzling prisms of color across the separately worked pieces of the coat.

Featuring Tunisian crochet in a stitch that mimics knitting, the texture and weave of this coat is both sleek and warm. The tunisian technique creates a tightly constructed fabric that drapes nicely while also holding a tailored shape that fits and flatters.
I have spent a lot of time on this pattern providing tutorial resources for learning how to do Tunisian crochet and all these links to videos and written and photographed tutorials are included in the PDF! :)

Lots of inspiration for this came from recycled sweater artist Katwise, and you should definitely check out her website at www.katwise.com !

The pattern is pretty well written. But sometimes when there are three sizes in one pattern it can get confusing. I asked questions and got quick answers. I used the alternate acrylic yarn suggested and worked to find the right hook and gauge. The skirt pieces are way too long. I may need to rip the bottom off and do the pieces over. It is lovely but my daughter is 5 ft 1 and it will be dragging on the ground. Instructions on how to shorten the skirt wedges for height ranges would be helpful.

I waited so long to review because I wanted to finish the project first, but this is awesome! The pattern was clear and easy to follow, and it 'worked'--I had no trouble piecing it together, the stitch counts all lined right up, and it was just challenging enough to be interesting, but not frustrating. I liked that it was made in pieces so I could skip around and not get bored as I sometimes do with sweaters that are all just a single piece. And it's SO WARM! I actually used the free pattern on the blog first, then when I realized how awesome it was, I bought it as well just because I felt like the artist deserves the pay for such a high quality pattern with so many options, add ons, and sizes. Thank you so much!

I’ve crocheted for years, but have never been brave enough to lean Tunisian crochet. This is an excellent pattern for a beginner!!
