This charming little birdhouse is made with used hardback books which were being discarded from the library. The base of the house is wood which has been decoupaged with pictures of birds, nests, and eggs. The top of the house is the cover of an old hardback book which was cut to form shingles. The house sits atop another hardback book. The base of the house is surrounded by twigs, grapevine, leaves, and tiny yellow flowers. The colors go together beautifully.

These birdhouses are a neat way to repurpose old books that were headed for the dumpster. I enjoy making them because my houses highlight two of my favorite things - books and birds.

My birdhouses make excellent gifts for the book and bird lover in your life, or for yourself of course. They look cute on a book shelf, mantle, or kitchen counter. They are one of a kind and definitely conversation pieces. Thanks for looking!
