This is a very loose weave, hand woven cotton scarf in a lace stripe. Because it is hand woven you will find that it has a few irregularities that make it truly unique and appealing. It measures roughly 14 x 72 inches long and it was hand dyed in indigo in my studio.

Dyeing with indigo holds a strong interest and I enjoy experimenting with different fibers and weaves. This particular scarf, is soft, absorbent and offers protection and comfort in warm or cool climates.

Indigo has been used to dye textiles since before recorded history. The sap which oozes from the plant when bruised was applied to fabric by ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. It has been used in India for at least 4,000 years by methods practically identical to ones used today.

Care: hand wash in cold water and line dry only. Touching it up with an iron is an option, but you may want to just let the fibers speak for themselves.
