Small folk art wood cross, Rain Lily, Dance in the Rain Theme, for encouragement in stormy times. Wood burned and hand painted.

Like much of the South, we've had some terrific storms lately here in North Carolina. One evening I was out in the meadow behind the cabin and saw several clumps of beautiful White Rain Lilies swaying in the breeze. I sketched a rain lily design and burned it into a cross, then used the same design to carve a rubber stamp which I used to create a small gift card.

If you know someone who is in the midst of life's storms right now, here is a gift that may be encouraging. A Rain Lily Cross, with the words 'Dance in the Rain' burned into the reverse side.

I made this little cross small so it can be gripped tight as a comfort. It may fit in your pocket or can be hung up by the simple twine hanger tied through a hole in the top.

The Cross is made of pine, and is a rustic folk art piece. The decorating is done with a wood burner and acrylic paint glazes. It is finished with a natural resin sealer and beeswax cream for a soft natural look. A bit of twine has been looped through the hole on top and knotted.
