Materials

Cendres, nard, miroir, coquillage

Box comprising:

- An Indian mirror box of varying size
- A bottle filled with 2 grams of homemade kohl according to a historical recipe
- A natural shell as a spoon
- A wooden laurel stick to trace its line
- A fabric pouch

Recipe of kohl found in Dioscorides and Pliny the Elder. His interest is to be above all 100% vegetable where kohl was a lot - and is still quite mineral -. It is a recipe transcribed in the first century BC that actually dates from the conquests of Alexander, which is seen by the presence of nard. It is a contemporary recipe of Cleopatra that seems to have been used in the Greco-Egyptian-Roman world of that time when Rome was powerful.

It was made entirely by hand according to the instructions given by the Greco-Roman authors, based on date ash while adding a binder to be able to use it wet and thus gain a more intense and more precise layout. A technique used in inks that may explain the presence of the spoons found. This kohl is very technical to make, and it is perfumed with a raw root that you may not be able to feel but which is still present, as the design of perfumes between today and 2000 years ago has exchange..

Use: Pour a little kohl in the shell, add a drop of water, mix with the laurel stick until you get a uniform color and texture then draw your drawing when you are satisfied. Let it dry. Admire the know-how of the Ancients.

Warning: In accordance with European and French legislation, Cleopatra Lab is not authorized to sell cosmetics, which must have been tested by approved laboratories. This product has been tested only on the eyes of its creator (and probably by several dozen generations of women of antiquity) as a result of which this product is sold only as a historical curiosity. By using this product as it has been in antiquity, you take responsibility for any problem that may arise and neither Cleopatra's Lab nor its creator can be held responsible.
