Digital Download for a Barn Owl Pattern. The download includes the watermark-free PDF pattern the Jpeg reference photo. The photo was taken by my husband, Todd, at the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, WA. I call this image SPOTTED because the owl looks like he has spotted prey.

The owl was taken inside a building perched on a rope covered post. I altered that to transform it into a tree branch. You could also turn it into a wooden beam.

All of my patterns are handmade. I do not use any sort of photo editing program to create line drawings from the photos. The method I use to create my patterns are the same methods detailed in the "to use a pattern" near the bottom of this description. The difference is that I'm tracing from the photo onto a piece of paper. Afterwards I ink in the drawing for better visibility.

All of my patterns are in pdf format which can be enlarged or shrunken. Once the pdf is open, click on the print button. On the print screen look for the CUSTOM SCALE. In that box you can enter a new percentage to fit what you're after. For example - 50% reduces the print size by half, 200% doubles it, etc. You can also change the paper size you want it to print on. Again this is a function of all adobe pdf document program.

The pattern measures 8 x 5 1/2 inches (20.3 x 14.0 cm) and is designed to print on standard copier paper 8.5 x 11 paper (21.6 x 27.9 cm). It can be resized to fit your project.

There are 4 photos included with this sale. The first is a wide angle showing the 'barn' structure, and it is 4288 x 2848 pixels. The second photo is a close up of the owl, and it is 1481 x 2089 pixels.
Both photo include a color and Black & White versions.

This pattern is for PERSONAL USE. You may create pyrography art with the download and you may sell your finished wood burning.

You are NOT allowed to use the pattern for commercial use.
You are NOT allowed to sell the pattern or photo.
You are NOT allowed to share the pattern or photo with others.

To use a pattern:
• Print out on standard copier paper.
• Coat the back of the print out with graphite. I like to use a B or 2B graphite pencil for this.
• Place the print out graphite side down on the board
• Trace over the pattern lines with a pencil or ink pen. Colored ink pens make it easier to see where you’ve been.
• Check for missing areas before removing the print out.
This method works for all surfaces that accept pencil – wood, leather, paper, etc.

Altho I haven't made this up yet, the fact that this shop includes a copy of the original photo in both black and white and color, is a HUGE help in not only creating the pyrography, but also in observing how a photo can be transformed into pyrography. Well done and will use this shop as a go-to for future patterns.

Loved this! I’m a novice, but here’s a picture of what I’ve completed this far. Not finished with the log yet.
