Another exotic expatriate creation!

Here is some amazing Ikat fabric that I purchased when we lived in Uzbekistan. Lots of silk and cotton produced in Central Asia...(think "silk road")

Now I've turned it into a table runner and added some Moroccan hand-crocheted buttons along the edges. I find these buttons here in a tiny shop in the Rabat medina. (They are traditionally found on the garments worn by both men and women here.)

Ikat is made of dyed threads...a very elaborate process in which the threads are dyed first and then woven (I visited the weavers in the Ferghana Valley). The result is a unique and vibrant fabric.

Runner measures 13.5 x 45.5 inches. Silk\/cotton blend.

A very special holiday gift...think ahead!
