This is a very rare Mauser sterling silver hand wrought hammered repousse American Arts and Crafts bowl. The naturalistic motif of cherries is superbly wrought with fruit and leaves in a NATURAL swirling and draping movement around the bowl with the edge of the bowl in a branches and twigs design.
The Arts and Crafts movement began in England under the superb guidance of its originator, William Morris, from about 1880 - 1910...the Aesthetic movement overlapped these years around 1893...
The Mauser Manufacturing Company created superb examples in sterling using natural motifs from the Arts and Crafts, Aesthetic, and Art Nouveau movements. They were established in 1887 in Attleboro, Mass., moved to New York City in 1890, and merged with Hayes & McFarland Co. and Roger Williams Silverware Co. in 1903. These companies all came to a merger forming the Mount Vernon Company Silversmiths which was purchased by Gorham in 1913.

The motif of this bowl is cherries, a very rare naturalistic motif. This piece is 6 3/4" across the face at its widest and 2 7/8" across the rounded base. It weighs 73 grams.
It is hallmarked by the manufacturer with 925/1000 FINE...STERLING...a unicorn trademark which was used between 1887 - 1903...it is numbered 363 over an A...it is then signed by the actual bench man: ZL 11 1...Fhx

Absolutely RARE and SUPERB antique...
...there are ten slight pinpoint dimplings across the piece, barely noticed.
