The Swiss Pine or Arolla Pine, Pinus cembra, is a species of pine tree that occurs in the Alps and Carpathian Mountains of central Europe, in Poland (Tatra Mountains), Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania. It typically grows at 1,200 meters (3,900 ft) to 2,300 meters (7,500 ft) altitude. It often reaches the alpine tree line in this area. The mature size is typically between 25 meters (82 ft) and 35 meters (115 ft) in height, and the trunk diameter can be up to 1.5 meters (4.9 ft) across!

Check out this is a beautiful Naturalist's illustration from the turn of the 20th century. The fabulous minute details shown in this black and white naturalist's study are totally amazing. Printing of this quality and detail is a long lost art-form I'm afraid.

"Swiss Pine" is in wonderful condition, with firm ,sound edges and corners a just a touch of light tanning at the very edges. Not too shabby at all for 104 year old paper!
This beautifully detailed engraved illustration of Natural History measures 6.5" x 9" overall and it's printed on the reverse side too. Perfect for framing.

Matted, framed and displayed as a gallery grouping, these wonderful antique natural history prints are simply spectacular. (Please note that the framed examples in the last photo are just to show how this might look when it's framed. Your print will come unframed.)
