Item details

Covers for sparhooks - a sparhook is a small, hooked knife, primarily used for making thatching spars from hazel branches. The spars are used to pin the reed to a traditional thatched roof.

These covers are made individually for your sparhook. They have a snug fit and include a strap to hold the sparhook in the sheath.

Hand stitched using tough 3-4mm thick and natural veg-tanned cowhide. I dye the leather, burnish the edges and finish with natural oils and beeswax.

To ensure that I make a sheath the right size please send me a photo of your hook (plan view) with a ruler next to it when you've ordered, along with the blade's width and length.

All my products are made by me in my small workshop in the northwest of England, UK. I sometimes have a lot of orders on my waiting list so please allow 2 or 3 weeks for me to make and post it. When you place you're order I'll be in touch soon to let you know when it will be ready. And please feel free to send me an Etsy message if you've any questions or would like something a little different.

Why not add my leather balm to your basket too, to nourish and protect your leather so it last for many more years?
