Vintage Japanese indigo textile.

Originally, this was made to be a traditional Japanese apron. This one, however, doesn't have the waist strap which makes it ideal for a wall hanging. In Japan, they are sometimes made into bags.

These aprons are worn in shops, restaurants and izakaya in Japan. They usually have a logo and information about a company or product.

This apron is from a shop which sold many types of oil (cooking). The shop name was Yamatake (yama - mountain, take - bamboo) and was located in Shikoku. The large symbol in the centre is the logo. The kanji along the bottom in the address and contact information.

70cm x 46cm.
