Complete Set of Playing Cards - Gladys Emerson Cook

Beautiful complete 2-deck set of playing cards with artwork by Gladys Emerson Cook. Two decks, regulation decks (not pinochle), featuring two thoroughbred racehorses. One deck has a silvery-grey background and a silver rim; the second deck had a golden brown background and a gold rim. All cards are in excellent condition; silver deck has 6 cards that have a slight wave to them.

52 cards in each deck; these are Congress cards, with the 'Cel - U - Tone' finish. Gold deck has one joker, plus an extra insert card (54 total cards); silver deck has one joker (53 total cards). Box has the inside tray, and the outer sleeve; outer sleeve shows a little wear. Please see the pictures.

Gladys Emerson Cook was famous for her drawings of cats and dogs, and rarely, horses. She was prolific, and her work is now very sought after. Ms. Cook died in 1976; these cards date to the 1960's.
