I have designed and installed swing sets for the last 8 years, and over that time I have tried many swing set brackets, all of which performed poorly for my expectations of a stable wooden swing set. I feel that after you have devoted time and money to a swing set project it should come out as solid and stable as possible, and that the legs of the a-frame should not lift when the kids are swinging. These swing set brackets here will give you a much more solid and STABLE swing set, and your project will come out great, every time, with less hassle. They cost more than some brackets because they have more steel in them, and they are not made overseas. But their design will contribute greatly to the successful outcome of your swing set, and to your swing set's life expectancy.

This listing is for the pair of steel brackets that attach the four legs to the swing beam, for building a wooden swing set frame from a 4x6 beam and 4 - 4x4 legs. TWO BRACKETS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING, ONE FOR EACH END OF THE A-FRAME STRUCTURE. With these two brackets you can build a free-standing swing set frame with your own 4x4 legs and 4x6 beam. These brackets do not include the bolts/screws hardware for attaching them.

The brackets are the most important component in making a swing set. Why go with these brackets?

1. Nearly all the other brackets you'll find will lift up at the legs when the kids are swinging just moderately high. This is because the angle between the legs is narrow--typically only 45 degrees. Yes, you can dig holes and cement the set into the ground, but that's quite a bit of extra work, not to mention you can then never move the set to a different spot in the yard if you wished. (Or sometimes it's just nice to be able to shift the swing set a foot to prevent lawn bald spots.) These brackets were designed with a 60 degree angle so that the set will not want to lift up when the kids are swinging. The last photo above compares the angle of our brackets with the angle of the typical brackets out there in the marketplace.

2. These brackets bolt to the 4x6 swing beam and 4x4 legs much snugger than other brackets do, and the bracket steel is much thicker than on other brackets, all for a more solid and stable structure.

3. These brackets fit a top beam that is 5 1/2" tall, but the width of the beam can be any thickness, which gives you some extra options for your swing set design. First, if you wish, you have the option to use a larger 6x6 beam instead of the more typical 4x6 beam, for a structure with even greater weight capacity. And second, nowadays 4x6 beams can be in shorter supply, but because these brackets work with any width beam they will work with a composite beam that you make out of three 2x6 boards that are screwed together. A composite beam is easy to make with 3" deck screws and in some cases can have advantages over traditional 4x6 beams.

4. These brackets are easier to install than other brackets. Other brackets might require you to plane the 4x6 beam to be able to fit it into the bracket.

5. These brackets are higher quality, powder coated, good looking brackets.

These brackets fit typical 4x6 lumber for the beam, which actually measures 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, and 4x4 lumber for the legs, which actually measures 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
