Inspiration: This necklace is inspired by a depiction of a necklace in a fayum (mummy) portrait from about the 2nd century AD, now in The Louvre.

The original: The necklace seems to be made up of pearls and some gemstone which color is hard to make out. The pearls are threaded three and three with gemstones in between.

This reproduction: Necklace with fresh water pearls and cylindrical lapis lazuli beads, threaded on silk cord. Clasp is a decorated hook and eye in Vermeil (sterling silver electroplated with 22 kt gold). Length 45cm (18 inches)
