Created with metallic gold, silver and copper wax crayon on a special black rag paper. The attention to detail using three colors makes this a rare find. This rubbing is a large - 42" high X 20 " wide . Robert the Bruce was one of the important figures in Scotland's long struggle for independance from England. Although he was crowned in 1306, it wasn't until 1327, after many battles, that he was acknowledged as lawful king by the English. He died in 1329. Although this rubbing is almost 4ft high, the original version was an enormous memorial that one of his descendants had set up in 1889 to cover his tomb in Dumfermline Abbey in Fife, Scotland. Many Americans claim a close ancestral tie to this historical figure; you may be one of them!

Rubbings like this one, hand made by one of our craft instructors, make unusual and spectacular gifts. The fact that it has been rubbed in multi colors makes it a very rare and one of a kind purchase. I will send it to you rolled up in a strong postal tube. It can be hung either from wooden dowels or matted and framed under glass. Shipping and handling charges include insurance cover during transit.
