Victorian mourning bracelet dating with a base enamel covered with black enamel. Has a spring hinge, which stretches and still works well to easily put it on or take it off. The workmaship on this piece is really remarkable. Has an etched gold leaf design over black enamel in the center, which is on a little swivel so that the center piece can move about 1/4" from side to side.

There is some enamel wear to the ends of bracelet from opening /closing, but bracelet is still in good condition for its age, and measures approximately 7" around total. I can get it on my wrist very easily. In very nice condition considering age.

I've seen this style of bracelet with patent dates to the 1870's, and I've read that this style bracelet dates to the mid-1860's. I believe this is a very early style of this type of bracelet and that it does date to the 1860's.
