Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family, cousin to emerald, morganite, heliodor and goshenite. These days, when people hear the name "aquamarine" they tend to think of a light blue stone, but the stone actually covers a broad range of blues and blue greens. As the name suggests, aquamarine can be any of the many hues of ocean water. In recent times these stones have often been heated to remove green overtones, but because of the prevalence of irradiated blue topaz, the natural green tones are finally beginning to be appreciated again.
This stone is a great example of natural, unheated green aquamarine, with natural crystal faces on the outside and a rich seafoam green color. I haven't really seen another crystal like it, and certainly not in a large cross-section like this one. The stone weighs in at 12.15 ct., and measures 7/10 inches (1.78 cm) in length.
The item will be mailed in a priority mail flat-rate box to buyers in the US. Canadian and other international shipping is through US first class international mail.
