The Emma Dress PATTERN
Digital file type(s): 1 PDF
This listing is for the PATTERN to make an Emma dress.
I have been dreaming of a simple dress for girls for several years. It felt like everything buttoned in the back and I wanted a dress that a girl of any age could easily take on and off herself. After looking and looking, I realized that I needed to just design it myself! I had my first daughter this summer and she inspired me to finally complete this pattern.
This pattern includes:
- girls sizes NB to 14 (see size chart in photos)
- print-at-home pdf pattern pieces
- over 70 pictures to help you every step of the way
- 15 pages of detailed instructions to help the beginner sewist achieve excellent results
- a cutting chart for all rectangular pieces so you do not have to print as many pages
- a detailed materials list

I've sewn two dresses with this pattern and I LOVE the results. I am a beginner sexist and found this pattern quite helpful in the detailed instructions, except at two points. 1) sewing the sleeves. I used a tutorial online that used basting stitches to make it easier to fit the pieces together. 2) The sleeve hem. One part of the pattern instructions that I thought could be improved was sewing the sleeve hem. In the picture she is obviously doing this at a different point than her instructions indicate (i.e. before sewing the sleeve at the armscye). Once you have sewn the sleeve closed it is tricky sewing the hem, and it seems like the hem should be done first. I also added binding to the inside where the bodice and skirt are sewn together, just to make it tidier.
It turned out great! Thank you!
I made this bag for my grand daughter for her baptism. It was an easy pattern to follow. I did make one modification - I added a slip pocket with one pencil slot rather than the pencil case. I was able to make it in about an hour. Thanks so much!
Used this pattern to create my very first quilt. I had zero experience with quilt-making before this project and this pattern was great for a beginner, like me. Very thorough written instructions with lots of photos. The seller was very helpful and answered some questions I had about the pattern, right away. Definitely recommend!
