What is a bias-cut ribbon?
The material is cut on the bias, which creates shorter pieces that are then sewn together with silk thread. This results in a seam every couple yards or so. It is a characteristic of all bias-cut ribbons and adored by so many for its "stretching" capabilities that allow it to drape more beautifully.
If you're looking to purchase one yard and it is imperative that it comes without a seam, please purchase 2+ yards. One yard pieces are not guaranteed to be seamless.
🟨 NOTE: this ribbon is dyed using an age-old dye process while the ribbon is tightly wound on the spool using a medley of colors to bring it to its final coloring. This results in some color variations as the spool unrolls. The middle of the widest width may be impacted the most. These are not discolorations, but part of the ribbon and what makes it unique. The narrower widths will display less variation and often are solid in color. // Pictured are the 1-1/2" and 1/2" widths so the difference between the widths' coloring is seen.
Choose from five widths:
• ½" wide
• ⅝" wide
• 1" wide
• 1½" wide
• 2½" wide
Full spool: 38 yards
If out of stock, contact for availability.
Hand-wound on a logo branded wooden spool or paddle. Single yards will arrive loose.
If ordering multiple quantities, the ribbon may arrive as consecutive yardage on a single spool or paddle. Bulk quantities may arrive on a cardboard or plastic spool.
WASH BEFORE USE (if ribbon will be exposed to water in any form) to prevent transference of dye. For a dry use application, this is not relevant as there is minimal dye left over. The minor bleeding that may happen with this silk can be prevented by a gentle hand-washing (light soak in a bowl of water). No cleaning agent or setting agent is necessary; the dye has already bonded with the silk fibers. Any excess dye just needs to be rinsed away. After rinsing you may squeeze the water out, lay the silk flat on a towel to dry and then iron flat if you prefer to avoid wrinkles. We don’t recommend hanging the silk to dry as it will stretch and may become narrower than you want.
🟨 NOTE: great care has been taken to photograph the product in natural light with minimal photo processing, but due to the hand-dyed nature of this product, the color may vary at times batch to batch from what is shown. Please note that silk reflects light in such a way that its color will adapt to its surroundings and may vary even more depending on the light source.
⚠️ NOTE: If your project is color-sensitive, please order a sample. Colors are depicted as accurately as possible, but as lighting, monitor/screen calibrations, and/or how each individual interprets a color may alter appearances—returns are not accepted on cut-to-length ribbons if it is not what you hoped it'd be. Samples are available for this reason. Please keep in mind when ordering.
