Indonesian Bada Valley (Chief)
Modeled after the Mysterious Owl Faced Megalithic Stone Statues at Bada Valley/Napu Valley. Located in the Lore Lindu National Park in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. These megaliths were discovered in 1908. Some have speculated that they were carved between 1000-5000 years ago.
Very little is known about the origin or culture that created these statues. However, local tradition tells that they were once used for ancestral worship, prayed to in order to keep out the evil spirits. Other stories tell of how they were protectors of the village and after wrong doing were turned to stone.

I just came back from visiting Petra and was entranced by the al-Uzza figures in the Amman and Petra museums. This is a stunning replica and I’m so glad someone has recognized that the Nabatean statues are so spectacular. I only wish the larger replicas were still in stock!
