Description

100 year Titanic Commemoration this year! The Titanic in all its glory is recreated in this unique and astonishingly bold new perspective 3 D original scrapboard collage. Made with acrylic paint, pencil, memorabila, authentic blue prints, and jewels, the piece jumps right off the canvas and it contains exact replicas of a boarding pass, newspaper, photographs of passengers, cabin curtain cloth pattern, Capt. Smith and navigation maps. The compass can be easily detached if need be. No piece exists anywhere in the world even remotely similar. Titanic has been featured in Louisville, Ky. USA and regional galleries, and a photo of the piece will likely appear in the Titanic Centennial celebration 2012 publicity materials overseas.

This fine art piece is large with two inch thick painted sides and has a commanding presence as the ship extends out from the canvas in 3 D.

The Titanic represents from top to bottom the launch, lives on board and then the final resting place beneath the sea. The collage is in a cross shape if you look closely to represent the lives lost. The beautiful woman represents one who couldn't make the voyage, but lost her loved one to the ocean so she too is in a sense, lost.

Creating this piece and its mate, Titanic SOS, pictured bottom, was one of the most rewarding experiences for me as an artist. Much research and communiques occurred with Titaniacs, those who immerse themselves in the history, engineering and drama of the ship and its passengers. My goal was to make an authentic preservation of the life and death of Titanic.

The ready to hang artwork is preserved with UV protective coating as are all the paper embellishments, and the piece will provide generations of viewing pleasure and conversation. This commanding piece of world history deserves a place in your home, bedroom, office or study. The painting would make a special gift for someone who, like me, appreciates a good story, ship building and Titanic history.
