This is a hand made, multi coloured rubbing of Sir Robert de Bures, created with gold and silver wax crayons on a special black rag paper. This rubbing is taken from a replica 'brass' and measures 36" high X 15" wide. The original memorial brass is dated c1310 and is said to be 'the finest military brass in existance'. This is the only undamaged brass of its age and type. It can be found in Acton in the county of Suffolk in England. It shows the knight in chain mail with a linen surcoat, generally used at that time to keep off the sun. De Bures was Lord of the Manor of Acton and died in 1331.
