Dimensions

Height: 2 Inches; Width: 8 5/8 Inches; Depth: 8 5/8 Inches

This is an interesting estate piece with no markings to help identify its origins, but lots of clues in its appearance. It is definitely a bowl that can hold liquid - such as water to feed a fresh flower arrangement - but it is not deep enough to be a practical serving bowl. Also, the fact that the white bottom of the interior in textured indicates that it was finished with more interest in its decorative appeal than its food serving practicality.

The glazed bottom of the piece is painted in a subtle sage green with the flowing leaves on the top of the piece picking up that sage green and combining it with interesting and sophisticated shades of gray on the textured white background. The plant itself has the look of something that might be grown in water. I think of an Asian/ oriental garden that might include a koi pond.

8 5/8" diameter x 2" high

Because of the bowl's simple lines, simple image, and sophisticated subtle colors I place it in the 1960s style area, and can see it used simply as a sophisticated decorative piece, or as a centerpiece filled with water and sprouting simple stems and green from a glass flower frog* as pictured in the last photo placed in the center.
