This stunning ensemble is a treasure, a beautiful example inside and out of Edwardian making. The exterior has some - mostly cosmetic - flaws, so please read the condition notes. This s-curve era set consists of two pieces - a graceful skirt to wear bustled, and a boned pigeon breasted blouse.

The blouse has slightly puffed full sleeves that come to a fitted cuff. Self-fabric tuffles trim the front placket and the waist. The pigeon breast lace is an achingly lovely tatted rose design done in fine mesh with large open areas. It is lined with tissue silk. Behind the tissue silk, the brown lining has three rows of ruffles to enhance the fullness of the bust. The collar is white linen, covered with tissue silk and tatted lace, and lined in the silk of the exterior. The blouse has 11 stays and closes up the front with hook and eyes. The skirt is lush, pleated to the back for fullness and generous cut, then swathed with a heavily ruffled second layer at them, cut with a sawtooth shape, and heavily pleated to create soft motion. It closes with hooks.

Both of these pieces are lined in a sturdy brown cotton, with yellow-taped selvages and perfectly covered stays, as well as careful hand stitching - their interiors are truly beautiful. I seldom photograph internal elements but this piece practically begs to be put on display inside out. I have many more photos of the interior and exterior both, feel free to inquire.

✂-----Measurements

My only s-curve form has absurd proportions, even for that era. The bodice is not closed on its 36" bust, so the pigeon breast area is not showing as narrow or as pronounced as it should.

Bust: 31"
Waist: 21"
Length: 16"/18"

Skirt Waist: hooks are set at 21" and 22" - maximum size 22.5"
Skirt Hips: 47"
Skirt Length: 45"

Label: None Present
Material: Silk, Tatted lace

This beautiful set, as seen in photos, has notable sun fade throughout the exterior. This does not affect the fabric integrity. It really is tragic, because any area of silk not exposed is vibrantly cobalt. The back of the piece has notably less fading than the front. On the bodice, the silk is broken on the edge of the sleeves, and there is a snagged fray, along with two pulled threads, at the far left of the bust. The tissue silk that lines the lace is thinning and shoes fiber movement, probably from rubbing against the cotton ruffles behind it. I find no other issues to note. I think this beauty will be a true inspiration for a historical maker.
