This rug hooking kit is drawn on a lovely cotton monks cloth backing. It comes with all the wools cut in one quarter inch strips necessary to complete the kit along with the pattern on a lovely linen backing, rug binding, a color key, easy to follow instructions and a solid maple Moshimer rug hook. These hooks retail for $8.00 - $10.00 in shops and on other websites. The only other item you will need to get started is a small embroidery or quilting hoop which can be purchased at any craft or fabric shop. I can't tell you how many people have taught themselves traditional rug hooking (not latch hook) using these kits. The pattern measures 6 X 12 inches and would make a great wall hanging, table centerpiece, candle or teapot mat when completed. Lots of people hang these hand hooked mats from old cupboards or make little pillows out of them. The shape of this piece makes it a great door topper as well. The sheep is hooked with oatmeal and black and the posies with some wonderful dyed and as is shades. The grass beneath the sheep is hooked with my own over dyed green and the background with a lovely blue plaid. To finish if off nicely I added a row of dark green outer border. If you have any questions please email me and thanks so much for looking at my work.
To get an idea how easy this is to do just google "primitive rug hooking". There are several videos showing how it's done on UTube.
