Thanks for stopping by. This is a different sort of listing. It's for a first printing of "When I am Quiet on Lana'i" the 3rd book in my Tiki Tales series.

In exchange for your $6,650 contribution, you will receive a tribute page in the beginning of my "When I am Quiet on Lana'i" children's book. Plus 100 copies of signed first edition "When I am Quiet on Lana'i." books -- hot off the press. And, the priceless gift of giving feathers for my dreams to take flight. The series includes 8 books and the first printing of any of the books requires large set-up costs that make publishing the entire series a slow process. Capital from second printings pay for the first printings.

My Quiet on Maui book is on the required reading list for Hawaii's DOE preschools. The O'ahu book was nominated for the 2006 Ka Palapala Po'okela Reader's Choice Award and was selected for President Obama's Inaugural Ball Gift Baskets by the Hawai'i State Society. The Maui book also goes into the celebrity gift baskets at the Maui Film Festival and the Mercedes Golf Tournament every year, AND was buried by our mayor (in a time capsule for the 100 year celebration of Maui county). Both books are top Rated 5 out 5 shakas by Joseph Bean of the Maui Weekly. You can also read reviews at amazon.com.

These pics are illustrations from the Lana'i and Kaua'i books, plus the cover shots of the first 2 books (already published and critically acclaimed) in the series. The books focus on a series of island settings and animal encounters.

I encourage you to visit TikiTales.com to learn more about my island-specific bedtime tales, which feature Hawaii's rare, endangered and unusual animals.

The ultimate goal of the series is to teach about a sense of place and how we are all responsible for the earth. In ancient Hawaii, the Konohiki oversaw the environment, from volcano tops right down into the sea. They studied the environment and motivated people to work together to preserve it. Today, we all need to be Konohiki. Learning about animals and their habitat is essential to understanding how to be a Konohiki.

I travel to schools around the islands and teach keiki (children) about the islands, the language, endangered species and how to write, illustrate and publish a book. Your Big Give will give me feathers for my wings to keep adding to my Quiet series.

Please convo with your questions.

Aloha from Maui.
