Every Spring for the last couple years one of these amazing Spotted Towhees will show up under our feeders for only a couple days. He does a funny two legged jump up, down and scratch backwards with both legs at the same time dance in the underbrush to scare up bugs.

I made this towhee from earthenware clay that I hand formed and incised to get all the little feather details. Then I glazed with non-toxic glazes to create a very realistic look. This guy is 7 inches from beak to tail tip, 2 inches at his widest and stands 2.25 inches tall. He feels absolutely wonderful sitting in the palm of your hand!

He is one of a kind since no molds were used and even though I will make more, every one will be unique.

Made by me, Carrie Wolf of Austin, Texas.
