The Mexico B&W Series
No. 4 - El Nieto

This is an ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals)

While waiting for Maria Sabina's daughter to return with fresh mushrooms, I was invited to enter her house to wait since it was getting chilly and wet outside. Her "nieto", or grandson was a happy and curious kid and was happy to sit down for a picture. (I think he was really her great grandson.) Light was fading fast and from this point on any pictures I took would be by candle light.

It was shot on Kodak Tri-X Pan pushed to ASA 800. I was shooting for a Newseek journalist at the time working on a story about the "magic mushrooms".

It is the fourth of a series of my historic black and white photography of Mexico in the '60s and '70s.

As it must, it measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and is a signed and numbered edition.

ACEOs are growing in popularity and are an excellent way to acquire and enjoy the work of artists that may otherwise be prohibitive in price.
