Vintage 50s 60s Childs ABC Bowl or Plate, Metal Alloy RWP Ralph P Wilton, Columbia, PA
This childrens shallow bowl or deep plate has the ABC's and 123's parading around the rim. This is made if a thick and heavy aluminum metal alloy. I have seen these listed as pewter, but I believe this is incorrect. The metal is not as dark as pewter would be but I am not an expert. I have read that these bowls were made to be non toxic, however, I am not sure about that either!
This is a great display piece if not something you would care to use for a child. My research dates it to the late 50's and into the 60's as it was manufactured for some time. The underside has a stamp with the initials RWP which would be Ralph P. Wilton and it was made in Columbia, PA. Apparently the company that made these plates and other metalware was family owned.
Charming bowl. There are some scratches and dings from normal use that only add to it's vintage charm. I think you can see them well in the photos.
