This vintage tribal pillow, cushion was made by the Old Silk Route by recycling a vintage hand embroidered square which was reclaimed from the bodice of a Pashtun dress from Afghanistan. It is trimmed with white glass seed beads, so we simply backed it with brown velvet and filled it with cotton.

Measurements: 8.5" inches x 8" inches
Design: It is divided into four sections with star shaped embroidery
Colors: Predominant colors of the embroidery work are yellow, red and blue on a very pale
raspberry base

Janet Harvey's "Traditional Textiles of Central Asia" as well as Roland Paiva and Bernard Dupaigne's "Afghan Embroidery" are excellent sources for additional information on this rich and diversified tradition.

This is a gem for anyone who appreciates tribal textiles and wants to add a touch of color to any chair or couch. Please take a look at the other listings for these cushions, as they work well together even if they do not match.

For international shipping, please email the Old Silk Route for specific postal rates to your country. Thank you for visiting my shop and come back again soon.
