"Gorgan" small ceramic bowl in a beautiful shade of verdigris turquoise. I threw the piece out of white stoneware, on the wheel, then hand-decorated it in a pattern of flowing, sliptrailed, raised lines on the exterior. The surface is matte and mottled gunmetal gray and turquoise green/blue. Again, there is an archaeological quality to the piece - its name is a reference to one of the many centers for ceramic arts in Iran, Gorgan, in Golestan. The piece would make a beautiful treasure-holder, or decorative bowl.

Clay color: White
Glaze: Verdigris (a matte copper green)
Dimensions: Diameter: 4.5” --- Height: 2.5”

** Additional information about the proper care of ceramics **

My ceramic pieces are food-, oven- and microwave safe. However, verdigris glaze, while completely safe, does not tend to look good if you get citrus juice (or vinegar, or other acidic substances) on it. It might leave behind a slight “ghost” mark. Thus it’s better to use this bowl for containing dry items.

Wash with warm soapy water and dry the piece by hand as it is gentler on the glaze surface.
