The Duality series is inspired by patterns found in nature from biological structures to behavioral statistics. The triangular format is used to communicate the progression of these patterns, and improvisational knitting adds an organic character to the work. My focus for this series is on the duality between complex natural processes and their perceived simplicity. Subsequent versions in the series will follow these basic parameters.

Duality Charlie is the fourth in the series. The theme for this one is 'symbiosis.' One of the most successful survival strategies in evolution is cooperation. From cleaning stations in coral reefs to birds riding buffalo, the mutual benefits of cohabitation have affected species development profoundly.

The scarf consists of a series of garter stitch rows that vary in length that form a cohesive progression of organic improvisation. The piece utilizes the stockinette stitch as a background, or as I like to put it 'the white space.' Lying flat in a relaxed state it measures approximately 31.5in(80cm) down the center spine, and 70in(178cm) across the top.

This scarf is made with 100% recycled cotton in a rich navy blue like a sailor's uniform. The thinness of this yarn creates a finely knit fabric, ideal for moderate climates and urban wear. It is knit loosely for good drape and stretch.

Since it's cotton, you can machine wash and dry this scarf. Minimize shrinkage by setting the dryer to medium or low, or avoid shrinking completely by hang drying it or drying it flat.
