Ireland issued the first 'Free State Coins' in 1928, each with one of Ireland's celebrated animals on the face. The three penny coin has the Ireland's hare on the reverse, and the Irish harp on the obverse - the Irish Hare three pence, 'Leat Reul' dated 1956. The obverse of the coin is Ireland's harp, a design derived from both the Galway harp and the Trinity College harp.

Dated 1956, this matched set of coins are mounted on silver plated cufflinks.
