This one raku house bead measures about 28mm tall x 14mm wide x 8mm thick. It is partially glazed. The hole for stringing are about 1-2mm and pretty well centered although the house peak tilts a little.

These beads are similar to those featured in Stringing Magazine, Spring 2010 and Beads2010(cover and page 38).

The raku process produces surface irregularities and can produce small chips, thermal shock lines, color transfer and crazing. Raku produces soot most of which can be washed off, but some remains. I have washed and rinsed all beads with baking soda then filed areas that were too rough. The black coloration is absorbed into the surface of the bead and ranges in color from black to light gray. The beads can sometimes smell smoky, especially close to production, but it fades over time. All clay beads are breakable.

These beads are new and never used.

I ship on Friday unless you request immediate shipping.
