Description

This is a one of a kind ink painting on yupo (polypropylene paper) of a single Purkinje cell - a type of brain cell located in the cerebellum. The Purkinje cell is one of the largest neurons and is noted for its dense network of branches. Perfect for your favorite scientist, brain geek or deep thinker.

I painted this using a resist technique, kind of like batik. I used a rubbery fluid to draw the design of the neuron. After it dried, I wet the whole paper and applied ink in indigo, letting it bleed naturally to form interesting patterns. After the whole thing dried, I removed the resist, revealing the white of the paper.

Overall size 11 x 14 inches, including acid-free white mat and backing board. Standard size for easy framing. Signed.

I bought two of these lovely ties to match almost all dress clothes my husband wears. They look great on him.

My husband, the neuroscientist, is no fan of ties. But he really enjoys wearing these two.
