This platter is hand painted to exhibit with a skateboarder rockin' a nicely popped ollie. It can be used as a food serving piece, or hung on the wall with a single screw or nail. I've been skateboarding for nearly 20 years, it's an art form that has influenced much of my creativity, so I'm honoring that with this piece. I painted it from a photo I took of a good friend.

It is approximately 8 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 3 inches deep.

I made it as a mono print by painting the image in back slip on a piece of plaster, then covering the whole painting in wet white slip, and rolling a slab of clay over that. The clay slab had been spun on the wheel with brown slip to get the drips to flow outward from the middle. Once the image was transferred to the slab, I draped it over a slump mold to get a platter form and added a coil for a foot.

It has a clear glazed over the whole thing, with hints of purple, red and gold color.

A nice piece of art as it is, it's also a nice piece to serve up some good food to fuel a skate session.
