This open sugar bowl is in the Studio pattern, which was made by Denby in England from 1961 until 1974. The pattern was designed by Glyn Colledge, who worked with the shapes developed by Kenneth Clark for Denby's original Gourmet line. Studio finials and handles are glazed in orange; Glyn has said that this detail was Norman Wood's idea.

This bowl is in excellent vintage condition, although there are some manufacturing irregularities in the glaze which show up as light patches (please see photo #5 for a close-up example; in total there are five similar irregularities in varying sizes, all of which are smooth to the touch). This is a truly gorgeous item and will make a wonderful addition to someone's mod or minimalist kitchen. I'd keep it for myself if I didn't already have one (this is my favourite Denby pattern)!

This bowl is approx. 2.75" (7 cm) tall; the mouth is approx. 3.25" (8.3 cm) in diameter.
