The Antoinette 18th Century Cap and Stays pattern will help you create an historically accurate corset, or “stays” as they were called, as well as a delicate flouncy cap modeled after the styles in the 1780s. There is even a bonus pattern piece and instructions for an easy neck handkerchief. The stays feature several channels with narrow boning, tiny eyelets, and a bias tape finished edge. You can make the stays with metal eyelets or historically accurate handsewn eyelets. Tutorials for the handsewn eyelets as well as how to accurately lace your stays are included in the pattern.

This pattern was made in collaboration with Olga Watkin of Swish and Swirl, and is designed to fit over her “Georgiana 18th Century Undergarments” Pattern (available here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/646867394/pdf-pattern-ss1740-02-georgiana-18th?ref=related-3 ). With both of these patterns you can create a complete set of authentic 18th century undergarments for your dolls!

I love this pattern! The instructions were SO easy to follow and oh gosh the adorable little stays! I am dressing a doll for display and I also made matching 18th century outfits for my daughter’s dolls for Christmas and the cap was the exact final touch I needed! I left the caul ruffle off, and had no trouble making this change and still following the well written instructions. Thank you!

I have made more than 40 human size Renaissance Court Costumes over the years. Each woman's costume had the proper undergarments as well, including stays or corsets. The construction of this tiny set of stays is so close to my full size ones I was almost able to make it without looking at the directions. This is a beautiful pattern that I will use over and over again. By the way, I have found that BiasBespoke.com has a very large collection of boning in various sizes, including 1/8", which is perfect for this project. Thank you for an authentic pattern.
