Please meet baby hare Otus.

A textile ornament of a baby hare to display fondly in your home.

Otus has always loved playing with the other non-hare babies and she has made two very good friends, little owlet and little goat. Every day she can be seen playing in the meadow and along the forest edge with them. Owlet loves the big trees to help him hide from the huge sky and goat loves to climb on the lower branches with them both on her back. Well, sometimes Otus gets a little afraid as goat manages to go higher and higher up the tree, worrying about those small splayed cloven hooves, but no, goat does well! Otus just holds on as tight as possible and sometimes closes her eyes! Owlet on the other hand is fascinated by the height and feels nothing more than to plunge off goats back and streak down to earth. Ofcourse he has to keep reminding himself that he still can’t fly yet, what with his fluffy down feathers, but the draw is ever so strong. Otus was wondering perhaps if they would like to go for a race along the meadow some time? because she loves nothing more than the wind thru her fur with her ears streaking out way, way behind her. Hmm, they both said, perhaps Otus should wait until Owlet can fly then it would be much more fun. Though goat always likes to hop from side to side and spring around in circles, she says running in a straight line is rather boring, or running straight for a while then changing direction fast can be rather disorientating and she may lose her footing. Well, Otus was not going to let this spoil their friendship so she concentrated on improving her head for heights instead.

Otus has been made with great care and she has safety eyes. She has been machine and hand sewn by me and will have many ‘unique’ (imperfect, handmade) bits. However, she is not recommended for very young children and is not a toy.

Otus is excited about coming to live on your shelf, though, er, she’s not really wanting to be too high up thanks. Just near the bottom would be fine. Plus she would like the window open so that she can go out and play with goat and owlet every day. If she comes back rather pale in colour it means they have had an exhilarating day up in the trees! So she might be a bit wobbly on her feet, perhaps you could carry her over to her spot on the shelf? And infact, she’s just had a good thought – how about you come along too to play? though you do look a little heavy to be clambering onto goat’s back with them. Perhaps you should be waiting at the bottom on the tree, and if she should slip you would make a nice pillow. And if owlet plunges by mistake then he could be saved too. Mind his tiny sharp claws though – goat has already been complaining about them!

She is made from a piece of cotton with a ram picture on it, though she likes to think of it as her goat friend, thank you very much, and she has a polyfill and scrap material and thread stuffing and a little bit of inside coming out from under her ear, (but it's hardly noticible) along with a full stomach of dandelion leaves (only joking!).

She stands approx 17cm high and 12cm wide (approx 6.5” x 5”).

Otus is excited about her journey to her forever home!
She also wants you to know that baby hares are called leverets.
She comes with a small tag telling her story.
