Waaave Pool is a video framebuffer delay unit which is optimized for exploring video synthesis through digital video feedback. Waaave Pool is intended to be simultaneously an accessible and affordable introduction to video synthesis and a powerful and unique tool for video artists. To ensure affordability among the widest possible spectrum there are many different upgrade and diy options so double check which variation you wish to purchase on check out.

Capable of taking input from usb cameras or capturing sd analog video directly via rca, s-video, or component and outputting 720x480 through either sd analog composite video or hdmi (the system is designed around analog output into a crt so that is highly recommended) Waaave Pool allows you to store, process, and loop up to 2 seconds of video delay. While this can function as a traditional framebuffer delay device, where Waaave Pool truly excels is in taking delayed video signals and transforming them via feedback loops into a vast number of complex reaction diffusion patterns and hypnotic morphing fractal landscapes. The default interface is a midi controller with 8 knobs, 8 sliders, and 36 buttons premapped for plug and play fun but can take usb class compliant midi signals from many controllers!

The Basic Edition Plus comes with a raspberry pi, power supply, a compatible usb camera, a midi keyboard with the controls premapped, breakout cable for composite video output, a custom enclosure, and sd card with Waaave Pool preinstalled. The beta testing shows this as the most popular set up, it's hard to argue with having 16 knobs and sliders and 36 buttons for navigating through all of the chaotic feedback landscapes
