Maine Ballads,1938, was written by Robert P Tristram Coffin (1892-1955).

As Maine poet, Bowdoin College professor and Yankee writer, Coffin used poetry to describe the people, places and events that excited him.

Coffin loved the common man, the "Maine human nature" that one finds in his poems: The Island Wife, Country Dance, The Man Who Broke Three Hearts. These Maine Ballads epitomize the poetry of Coffin whose work reminds some critics of the poetry of Robert Frost, another Yankee.

Coffin also includes a fine introduction to his collection. This book is in good condition with only slight shelf wear and the browning of pages that indicate its age.
