This beautiful set is from the mid-twentieth century or earlier and bought in downtown Lawrence, Mass.at Alice Korbey's Dress Shop. I know the dress shop was there in the early to mid 1900s because my grandmother used to shop there and she was born in 1888.
This two strand necklace has amber glass beads with small gold beads in between. The matching amber half marble glass earrings are set in a gold plate. The amber glass beads are marbled or as some say, tiger stripes. The amber color ranges from light to dark which makes each bead unique. The last three beads at the ends of each strand are smaller than the others. What is amazing about this vintage jewelry demi-parure is the faceted 1 1/2" round amber jewel which is on the clasp and held into place with a gold, 8 pronged setting. I have researched this piece of art and have not been able to find anything that compares to it. It is unsigned but because of the fantastic workmanship, I believe this is a quality piece of jewelry by a top designer. This demi-parure is in very good condition and would be a great addition to any jewelry collection or certainly could/should be worn.
