A gorgeous sunset in the fjord is the subject of this guilloche enamel brooch, framed in a scalloped sterling silver setting. Signed: 32553, Sterling, Norway. Or maybe it's a sunrise!

The artwork is gorgeous, with such realistic skies and ocean. The guilloche technique lends itself perfectly to the concept of sunbursts, as the lines under the vitreous glass radiate out like rays.

This scenic brooch is made of a wavy guilloche pattern under vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel. Many Norwegian jewelers perfected and used the technique extensively, including David Anderson, Theodor Olsens, Elvik, Aksel Holmsen, Finn Jensen, Ivar Holth and others.

Nice sized, about 1-1/2" wide, and weighs 7.7 grams. No chips, no cracks, no crazing. Truly vintage art wrought in miniature.

RESERVE for norwayjacqueline until 8/22: GUILLOCHE sterling brooch .. Vintage NORWAY scenic enamel .. Possibly David Anderson
