This brooch consists of two large recycled gears from a real clock, combined with serpentine clock hands and a brass plate backing to create the illusion of a section of actual clock. The benefit of this brooch over the centre of a real clock is that there are no boring bits or large obstructions obscuring the intricate parts that make clockwork and steampunk so appealing. Think of this as an artist's representation of part of a clock's inner workings - made from some clock hands, a few real gears and an antique copper plated backing. A small brooch clasp has been afixed on the back to allow it to be easily worn or attached to other accessories such as hats to add a feature to them.

This brooch is quite large at 4in or 10cm long from the tip of the minute hand to the opposite end of the backing plate, with the plate itself 3/4" or 4.5cm in diameter. It's a simple statement piece that quickly catches the eye, yet looks realistic enough that even people who aren't familiar with steampunk will comment on how cool it looks - at least that has been the reaction that a friend of mine received who I made a similar one for.

Size:
4in or 10cm long from tip to far edge of backing plate, 1 3/4" or 4.5cm in diameter across the backing plate
