'The English Struwwelpeter' is taken from the German 'Struwwelpeter' and has been produced in many editions for over 150 years.

This eBook is scanned from an original 26th edition which was published at some time between 1848 and 1860 (see British Library) by GRIFFITH AND FARRAN.

The scans have not been digitally enhanced so you can see the originals as they are with tanning, fingermarks, discoloration and one long tear.

The first picture is not the actual cover, which is not terribly interesting visually, but you can see the scan of it inside the book and in the last scan above.

As it would be difficult to read the text on a small reading device, the poems have been faithfully copied which means some of the punctuation is rather odd, especially the inverted commas for speech. The text accompanies the scans and is not overlaid.

The narrative poems are cautionary tales in the grisly 'fairy-tale' tradition so are somewhat gruesome but if taken in fun are highly amusing.

The file will be sent in .epub format. This can be viewed in full colour on your computer with Adobe Digital Editions which can be downloaded for free.
