Description

Death Of Pierrot is a lovely 8" x 10.5" vintage print by Aubrey Beardsley for the first issue of The Savoy published in 1896.

This original 8" x 10.5 reprint is from 1965; printed on heavy paper and is in lovely condition. It's tanned just a tiny bit to a light ecru color (think pale vanilla ice cream) and it would be simply fabulous matted in a bright color and framed in either black or gold.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (21 August 1872 – 16 March 1898) was a popular and controversial British illustrator and author best known for his use of starkly contrasting and intricate black and white designs and for his caustic commentary on the society and the morality of his time of which he was a keen observer.

Most of his drawings were executed in jet black ink on white paper. Beardsley was clearly influenced by the style of Japanese woodcuts. His subjects emphasized the beautiful, the grotesque, the decadent and the erotic.

Beardsley was a leading figure in the Aesthetic Art Movement of the late 1800s which also included the works of Oscar Wilde (whom he very much disliked,) Edgar Allan Poe, Harry Clarke and James A. McNeill Whistler.

Beardsley's contribution to the development of the Art Nouveau style and the poster movement was hugely significant, despite the brevity of his brilliant artistic career before his untimely death from tuberculosis at only 25 years old.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matted. framed and displayed as a gallery grouping, these fabulous black and white prints are simply spectacular. (Please note that the framed examples in the last two photos are to show how this might look when it's matted and framed. Your print will come to you unmatted and unframed.)

Cashier's Checks and Money Orders are okay too but only if they are received within four days of your order, otherwise we'll cancel the order and put the item back up for sale.

We BEG you guys, Please... If your Etsy Address and PayPal Addresses are different, please please let us know where you would like us to send your package. We have a real talent for choosing the wrong one.

Returns & exchanges

Returns
We are happy to accept returns in good condition in the original packaging shipped within 48 hours as exchanges only and you agree to pay postage both ways.

Damages In The US Mail.
They happen sometimes.
Although we carefully wrap our vintage breakables in tons of bubblewrap and tons of padding and pack them in sturdy shipping boxes, damages still sometimes happen. *sigh*
Please tell us about damaged goods ASAP. Photograph the damages and send photos to us so that we can work it out with USPS.

Shipping policies

We ship by way of the United States Postal Service only.
Yes, FedEx and UPS are a little bit cheaper, but we find them to be very brutal with our delicates and breakables, so we refuse to play with them.

International Orders
The answer is YES we do ship internationally. Please just ask! There are many shipping destinations on this planet and each one is a slightly different price.

Additional policies

While it is considered customary for many antique and vintage shops to consider offers and dicker prices, our shop simply doesn't.
We've priced our merchandise as fairly as humanly possible. Please don't ask us to haggle.
Thank you.
