This is Moda's new pattern that just came out in May called "Flag of Valor". The fabric is also Moda.
The red fabric is by Minick and Simpson's Bar Harbor from Moda, and the blue star field is made especially for this pattern.
The quilt measures 54x60. The star area is 18x54.
The blue star fabric are preprinted on the fabric. Please note that this fabric has an antique look to it and the blue is made to look somewhat crinkled and old, like "old glory".
I quilted it in an all over stipple with an occasional star thrown in.
The backing is a stripe, also by Moda, that is a light denim looking blue and ivory color.
The binding is doubled in the same fabric only on the bias. It was sewn to front and then hand sewn to the back which takes several hours, but look so much better than machine stitching it down.
I prewash all my fabric so no shrinkage and fading later.
I use Hobbs Heirloom 80/20, better loft longer.
